Okay, so, um... hi. That was bad, let me start over.
Alright, so I started this journal because I recently became a trainer. I've actually wanted to be one for years, but was too lazy to actually do anything about it until now. (Well, there's a bit more to it than that, but that's not important.) So anyway, I went to the nearest lab to get my trainer's license, pokédex, starter, and all that jazz. The choice for me was between roggenrola, seedot, and venonat, and if you know what my second-favorite type is, then you know what I chose.
I don't actually play that game, but it was the first thing that came to mind. Unfortunately, with her current moveset, I'm having a hard time training her. I'll probably have to find a way to teach her some new moves before we can really get anywhere. In the mean time, she's kinda like the team mascot right now.
So anyway, After spending practically all day at the lab, I went home and started my journey the next morning. I mostly just walked around my own neighborhood, actually. Visiting old places, showing off to neighbors, that kind of stuff. It also the first time I bothered to meet any of the local pokémon, even though I already knew they were all scatterbugs and zigzagoons, but that didn't stop me from catching any.
This guy was my first "wild pokémon encounter," even though I didn't actually fight him, I just made him fall off of a lamppost using sheer awkwardness (don't ask). He appears to be really into battling (at least when he's winning), and has proved himself quite capable.
She was my first actual battle... and I lost. Looking back I don't know why I threw the pokéball, but I guess it worked out because she's pretty good at fighting and very enthusiastic about it. Hell, I might even challenge the league (haven't actually decided yet) just for her. She also found me a pokédoll, which I thought was odd, because my pokédex told me her ability isn't pickup.
So after a while, I decided to go to the local park, it seemed as good a place to start as any. To no one's surprise, as a new trainer, I kinda sucked. Still, it was a great place to train, and I learned a lot while there.
I only caught this one because I couldn't get him to leave me alone. which, now that I think about it, is ridiculously counterproductive. Oh well. He's actually starting to grow on me, and not as annoying as I originally thought.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this earlier, but somewhere between my home district and the park, I caught a pichu. I don't remember where or how, (I think something to do with a kitchen ingredient?) but it happened. The guy was so forgettable I was actually afraid I wouldn't be able to take good care of him. Fortunately, I met a woman at the park who was kind enough to take him off my hands. It turns out she travels all around, raising unwanted pokémon and then giving them to trainers when they've grown up and gotten strong, so in return for the pichu, I received an overleveled backup mon.
Obtained at a whopping level 30, I won't be needing to train this guy anytime soon. The lady who gave him to me suggested I keep him around for protection or emergencies, and let me just say I'm glad I listened, but I'll get to that later.
The rest of the park was uneventful until I turned down a female combee who wanted me to catch her, and she ran(flew?) away, crying. It may seem harsh, but I had what felt like so many pokémon already, and I was worried about becoming that trainer who catches too many pokémon and can't take care of them all. Moments later, I ran into a guy who was looking for a very specific pokémon to trade. As it turns out, female combee are quite rare.
The next day, I left for the next city. I don't really know what I'm going to do, but my plan is head in the direction of the nearest gym and hope I've made up my mind by the time I get there. That day was particularly hot, and the path didn't have much shade, but I managed. I also met more interesting characters, including a trainer whose panpour was a sore loser, a much-stronger but much-younger trainer who was a bit condescending, and a nice lady who was taller than even me. Also, there was my sixth pokémon.
I'm starting to think I'm some sort of rare pokémon magnet, this isn't even the first shiny I've seen so far. In a search for shade, I must've wandered into her territory, and just like all of my other pokémon so far, she had a higher level than all of my other pokémon so far. There was one obvious exception, and I'm glad it existed. For all I know, Maractus may have saved my life. In the end, I caught her in a luxury ball as a sort of apology. I really need to find solutions to my problems that don't involve catching everything I see.
This is where I'm going to end this entry. I know it's not much, and it's actually been a while since then, but it seemed more exciting at the time, and I mostly just wanted to share my first couple days as a trainer. I'll post again when something interesting actually happens.
