Enlighted, a company that makes sensor technology to reduce energy consumption, raised $20 million in Series C funding. New investor RockPort Capital led the round, joined by new investor DFJ JAIC, as well as existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Intel Capital.
Enlighted says its sensor technologies and software are being used to reduce energy consumption in more than 10 million square feet of commercial properties by building owners such as LinkedIn, Bank of New York, Google, Turner Broadcasting, JDSU, City of San Jose and Hewlett Packard.
Enlighted combines sensor technology, data analytics and management tools to manage office buildings, public spaces, industrial facilities and other real estate. The heart of the company's technology is the Enlighted Sensor, a device that attaches to Saudi Arabia Mobile Number List new or existing LED, fluorescent, CFL or HID fixtures. Enlighted's sensors monitor light levels, temperature, occupancy, and energy consumption in a 100-square-foot area directly below each device, then control those environmental parameters to save energy, reduce glare, or harvest sunlight.
Enlighted's Energy Manager analyzes sensor data to track consumption and perform other tasks. Enlighted technology can be used with LED or fluorescent luminaires.
This week, Sensity Systems unveiled a light-sensing network under the NetSense brand, where each LED light is equipped with a sensor and essentially becomes a node in a broadband network that can provide various services to building owners.
Data is increasingly being used to improve energy efficiency thanks to the development of tools and know-how combining the Internet and energy technologies, also known as Enernet.
